The USGA has announced the 12 host sites that will serve as sectional qualifiers for the 117th U.S. Open, the final hurdle for hundreds of players hoping to earn a spot at Erin Hills this summer.
The first sectional will be held in Japan shortly after the local qualifying stage concludes, with another sectional in England the following week. All 10 domestic qualifiers will be conducted on Monday, June 5.
The number of qualifying spots available at each site will be determined based on the relative strength of each field. Sectionals will be 36 holes and will include the top players from various local qualifiers as well as professionals who are otherwise exempt into the second stage.
Players with a USGA handicap index of 1.4 or better are allowed to apply until the April 26 entry deadline. Here’s a look at the full list of qualifiers, where invitations to the season’s second major will be on the line:
